Saturday Rides
All Club Rides on a Satuday are from the Gyffin meeting place.
Ride 1
Are great for beginners or people who are coming back to cycling after injury or illness. These will depart from the bottom of Gyffin Hill, Conwy at 09:00hrs.
There is a car park (free I think) behind the convenience store adjacent to the departure point if you wish to bring your bike by car.
This ride will normally average 14–16mph or at the pace of the slowest riders. Mileage of the standard route below is approx. 32 miles.
The route will be on the back roads to Caerhun via Rowen and then via Dolgarrog and Trefriw to Betws-y-Coed for a café stop at either The Alpine Cafe (Betws y Coed) or Treetops of approx. 40 minutes (bring money for tea and cake). Return to Conwy via the same route or via an alternative from Betws-y-Coed if requested by some of the riders.
Ride 2
This is generally ridden at a quicker pace than Ride 1 and usually heads towards Betws-y-Coed and back but the route does vary along the coast some weeks. Ride is usually 40-60 miles.
This ride will normally average 16-17mph.
The basic route generally progresses through Glan Conwy, over Bodnant Hill, Tyn-Y-Groes, then through Tal-Y-Bont, Dolgarrog and Trefriw. Turn right at Gwydir Castle and on to Betws-y-Coed. The ride generally splits into a couple of groups at Betws y Coed, a long route or short route group, weather dependent. Don't forget your tea and cake money.
Other longer and faster paced Saturday rides may be available, these will more than likely be decided on the day.
